Abstract

This article examines worship and holiness across Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and the
United States. Drawing on site visits to ancient temples, Byzantine churches, and
Ottoman mosques, it explores how worship sites, their orientation, and their architecture
shape religious experience, concluding that holiness resides less in buildings than in
community, nature, and the presence of God.
